Onaji Onah to judge Akweya translation competition

Onaji Joseph Onah..."Joining the panel would be a plus".
The winner of the maiden Akweya Translation Competition, Onaji Onah, has been announced as one of the judges in the August 2017 edition. While acknowledging receipt of the prize money for the July edition, Onaji confirmed his willingness to be one of the judges.

"I deeply appreciate the management of  Akweya.com and the Okenyodo Foundation for this uncommon initiative," Mr Onah wrote in an email. "I am honoured to be associated with it.


"I accept with gladness your

invitation to join the panel of judges for the August edition. Participating in the competition improved my written Akweya and spoken Akweya significantly. Joining the panel would be a plus in this regard."

Seeing beyond the

prize money, Onaji prayed for success "beyond the mission and vision of this project."

Onaji Joseph Onah hails from Omajaga, Akpa. Born into the family of the late Mr Okwubi Paul Onah and Mrs Onyapa Helen Onah, Onaji is the 6th child out of 8.


He had his primary education at Nativity Private School Makurdi between 1990 and 1997. Onaji proceeded to ECWA Secondary School Makurdi where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate in 2004. He gained admission into the Benue State University in 2004, where he got a bachelor's degree in Computer Science.


In 2009, Onaji joined the National Youth Service Corps and finished the service in 2010. His interest in Information Technology continued as he joined the National Institute for Information Technology (NIIT) in Port Harcourt as a Faculty (lecturer) in the Software Engineering Department. He is a software programmer with the speciality of Java Programming Language.


In 2011, Onaji joined his alma mata Benue State University but this time as a staff of the Directorate of ICT. He currently discharges his duties in the Academic Office ICT Section of the University. He is a  patriotic son of Akweya and a passionate lover of God.
